Huawei, a leading global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, has committed to leveraging its digital transformation experience to boost business intelligence across Africa. During the recent Pan-African Data Centres Exhibition and Conference in Johannesburg, Dawei Li, Vice President of Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa, shared insights on the company’s role in advancing artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and data center solutions.

Li emphasized that in the AI era, data flows are accelerating, making the centralization of data storage, computing, and exchange increasingly vital. Huawei provides comprehensive data protection services and advanced storage solutions to ensure data security and facilitate efficient data management, promoting service innovation across various sectors.

On the topic of cloud computing, Li highlighted that while African consumers are rapidly adopting cloud and AI technologies, they face challenges such as submarine cable failures and data localization issues. Huawei Cloud aims to address these by offering public, hybrid, and edge cloud solutions, and by investing in local cloud infrastructure across South Africa, Egypt, and Nigeria to ensure secure and compliant cloud access.

Li discussed the transformative impact of intelligent computing on data centers, noting advancements such as reduced construction times and increased power density requirements. He pointed out the necessity for liquid-cooling solutions to handle higher power consumption and the growing need for green power to meet environmental standards.

Huawei’s commitment to supporting intelligent computing in Africa includes the development of solutions like FusionBlock DC, which offers flexibility, high availability, space optimization, and shorter construction periods. This approach aims to meet the urgent need for efficient data center development while ensuring future expansion and sustainability.

In conclusion, Li underscored Huawei’s dedication to driving technological innovation, international cooperation, and talent development to support Africa’s digital transformation. By partnering with industry leaders, Huawei aims to build robust data center solutions that will facilitate the continent’s growth in the AI era.
