Accor has inaugurated the Gem Forest Hotel, its 105-room property located along Nairobi’s Limuru Road, marking the group’s ninth establishment in Kenya’s competitive hospitality market. The $30 million (Sh3.9 billion) hotel is strategically positioned to cater to the diplomatic community residing in nearby estates such as Gigiri, Runda, Muthaiga, Rosslyn, and Nyari.
Jigar Patel, the owner of Gem Forest Hotel, highlighted the strategic focus on diplomats, noting, “We expect diplomats to be among our biggest clients, as Gigiri is home to many embassies.” The hotel is poised to attract delegates from the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, consultants, contractors, and both leisure visitors and local residents.
The Gem Forest Hotel, located near Nairobi’s city centre and key landmarks like the Village Market and the UN Environment Programme, offers a unique and luxurious boutique experience. The hotel’s 10-storey design provides guests with views of Karura Forest and features enhanced security measures, including bulletproof glass on the ground floor.
Guests can enjoy a range of amenities, including the Kahani Restaurant, which serves modern Indian dishes, a buffet breakfast, and a curated selection of international and local cuisine. The hotel also offers a swimming pool, a gym, and conference facilities with a capacity for up to 80 guests.
This new addition to Accor’s portfolio underscores the group’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Kenya. The Gem Forest Hotel joins other Accor-managed properties in Kenya, including Movenpick Hotel & Residences Nairobi, Fairmont The Norfolk, and Novotel Nairobi Westlands, among others.
The opening of Gem Forest Hotel reflects the growing investment in Kenya’s hospitality sector, as global travel recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic. With new hotels like JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi and Dusit Princess Residences Westlands, the city’s accommodation options are diversifying to meet the demands of both domestic and international travelers.
