Stakeholders in Kenya’s human resource sector are urging organizations to integrate technology into their HR practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. By adopting innovations such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, HR professionals believe Kenyan organizations can significantly improve talent management, boost organizational performance, and cultivate more inclusive workplace cultures.
This call to action was highlighted during the launch of a new book titled “The HR Profession in Kenya,” authored by Samson Osero. The book, unveiled by the College of Human Resource Management and other sector stakeholders, explores the history, evolution, legislation, and future of HR in Kenya. Osero expressed that the book aims to provide valuable insights into the profession’s journey and its future direction.
Margaret Kinyanjui, Principal of the College of Human Resource Management, commended Osero for his dedication to advancing the HR field. She noted that the book is a testament to his commitment to enhancing the HR knowledge base, even in retirement. Kinyanjui also emphasized the importance of staying abreast of technological advancements and evolving trends in the HR sector.
Kinyanjui further discussed how technological advancements, including AI and data analytics, are reshaping talent management and organizational performance. The growing focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion is also transforming workplace expectations, necessitating a greater investment in the sector’s growth.
The College of Human Resource Management is committed to preparing future HR leaders to navigate these changes effectively. Kinyanjui highlighted the institution’s efforts in updating curricula, fostering industry partnerships, and promoting research to equip graduates with the skills needed to excel in a modern, tech-driven workplace.
This initiative underscores the urgent need for Kenyan organizations to embrace technological advancements and adapt to emerging trends in HR, ensuring they remain competitive and forward-thinking in a rapidly evolving landscape.
