The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is spearheading a new era in Kenya’s tourism landscape by leveraging public-private partnerships to enhance adventure tourism opportunities. CEO June Chepkemei highlighted adventure tourism’s resilience and economic benefits, emphasizing its potential to attract more visitors and support local communities alongside traditional attractions like wildlife and beaches.

Amidst global travel resurgence post-COVID-19, Chepkemei underscored the growth of adventure travel, citing its adaptability and ability to bolster local economies. She outlined Kenya’s diverse tourism offerings, including eco-friendly safaris, birding, hiking, and water sports, aimed at diversifying visitor experiences and spreading economic benefits across the country.

During the inaugural meeting of the Kenya Adventure Tourism Product Club, KTB introduced a collaborative platform to promote and package Kenya’s adventure tourism offerings. The club, comprising stakeholders from both public and private sectors, focuses on activities ranging from running and kitesurfing to mountain climbing and canyoning, aiming to position adventure experiences as a pivotal tourism niche with significant growth potential.

Through strategic partnerships with adventure tourism experience owners, KTB aims to showcase Kenya’s unique landscapes and activities to a global audience, ensuring sustainable tourism growth and community development. The initiative is poised to capitalize on the global adventure tourism market, valued at over 450 billion U.S. dollars, by highlighting Kenya as a premier adventure destination.

Join KTB and stakeholders in driving Kenya’s adventure tourism forward, creating lasting economic and social impacts through innovative tourism experiences. Together, we can unlock the full potential of Kenya’s diverse landscapes and promote sustainable tourism practices worldwide.
