TelCables Southern Africa, a subsidiary of global ICT solutions provider Angola Cables, has announced a significant upgrade to its backbone network infrastructure in South Africa. The network capacity has been increased from 500 Gbps to 800 Gbps to better accommodate the rapidly growing cloud and data traffic. This upgrade aims to provide faster, more secure connectivity for local and international customers.

Mahen Naidu, Head of Business Solutions at TelCables South Africa, emphasized the importance of these improvements for local internet service providers and content delivery networks. According to Naidu, the increased capacity will offer African and international operators greater flexibility, scalability, and the ability to better manage their IP connectivity and service requirements. This move aligns with the company’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for enhanced network performance and reliability.

**In response to double-digit growth in network traffic in recent months, TelCables has strategically expanded its bandwidth to 800 Gbps. This expansion is designed to provide seamless connectivity and improved performance for businesses managing their SD-WAN, cloud, and data traffic needs. The network upgrade ensures that TelCables can continue to deliver high-quality, high-performance business connectivity solutions to the South African and African markets.

To further support this growth, TelCables has opened two new Points of Presence (PoP) in Johannesburg at NTT Parklands and Xneelo Samrand. These new PoPs complement the recently established Durban PoP at the Teraco Riverhorse DB1 facility. This expansion provides customers with 100GE capabilities when routing via Teraco JB1, Teraco CT1, and Teraco DB1, facilitating network providers’ and operators’ ability to expand their networks without disrupting traffic.

Naidu highlights the strategic advantages of these upgrades, enabling network providers to increase their customer base and reconfigure traffic flows as needed without incurring multiple cross-connect fees. This capability is crucial for maintaining business continuity and connectivity, particularly for customers affected by cable disruptions in the Red Sea. The robust Angola Cables global subsea network empowers TelCables to offer better routing options to markets in Latin America, the USA, and Europe.

TelCables is committed to providing quick and efficient redundancy routing options to ensure business continuity and connectivity. The network upgrades will accommodate more traffic from existing and new cables, offering flexible options for IP traffic transit across the continent and globally. This commitment underscores TelCables’ dedication to delivering reliable and scalable connectivity solutions to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
