US and Kenyan partnership to bridge Internet affordability gap! USTDA and Wilken Group signed a grant agreement for a feasibility study to boost connectivity.

The study will explore new fibre optic and 5G infrastructure between Mombasa and Malaba, covering about 730 miles. This initiative aims to meet the increasing demand for reliable and affordable Internet connectivity in the region.

USTDA’s support aligns with the Biden-Harris Administration’s priorities, including the Digital Transformation with Africa initiative and Prosper Africa. This partnership underscores the commitment to expanding digital access and fostering economic growth in Africa.

US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, alongside US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman, witnessed the signing ceremony. The grant signifies a significant step towards enhancing digital infrastructure and empowering communities in Kenya.
