Kenya celebrates a milestone with the introduction of 194,000 locally assembled smartphones, announced by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo. This initiative, aligned with the government’s goal to produce 3 million handsets annually, aims to enhance smart technology accessibility nationwide.

Spearheaded by the administration of President William Ruto, the East Africa Device Assembly Kenya Limited in Athi River marks a significant step in bolstering local smartphone manufacturing capabilities, offering each handset at an affordable price of $50 through a collaborative effort between local and international partners.

This venture not only addresses the increasing demand for affordable smart devices in Kenya but also highlights the country’s commitment to fostering technological advancement and economic growth through local production initiatives.
