MTN Uganda, through the MTN Uganda Foundation, has launched the MTN Teachers’ Resource Centre in Komamboga to strengthen digital learning and support the integration of technology into classroom instruction. The initiative aims to improve teachers’ access to educational resources, digital tools and skills needed to enhance teaching and learning.
Established in partnership with Burn Radio Uganda, the centre was launched as part of activities marking National Teachers’ Day. It provides online and offline educational resources to help teachers prepare lessons, explore artificial intelligence (AI) tools and incorporate technology into their teaching methods. Its offline resources are particularly relevant to communities where internet connectivity remains limited.
The facility is also designed to help parents better understand the school curriculum and support their children’s education at home. By making learning materials more accessible, the initiative seeks to extend the benefits of digital education beyond classrooms and encourage greater parental involvement in the learning process.
The launch also marked the graduation of 102 teachers who completed the International Certification of Digital Literacy (ICDL). The certification equips participants with additional digital skills to support technology-enabled education and improve their ability to use digital resources in teaching.
MTN Uganda acknowledged the contributions of MTN Women at Work, Burn Radio Uganda, Maendeleo Foundation and Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports to efforts aimed at expanding digital skills training and improving access to educational resources.
The initiative reflects efforts to address the digital divide in education by combining access to technology with the skills and resources needed to use it effectively. Through the new centre, MTN Uganda aims to support teachers, parents and learners, while extending digital learning opportunities to communities with limited internet access.
