The Medusa Submarine Cable System has completed the Pre-Laid Shore End (PLSE) installation in Benghazi, Libya, marking another step towards expanding its high-capacity submarine cable network across the Mediterranean.

The PLSE is the section of submarine cable installed in advance between a land-based landing site and an offshore connection point. This preparatory stage establishes the route for the subsequent installation of the main submarine cable.

The milestone supports Medusa’s efforts to strengthen international connectivity between North Africa, Europe and the Middle East through its Mediterranean submarine cable network.

The installation involved teams working on the ground in Benghazi, with Medusa acknowledging their collaboration in completing the operation.

The Medusa submarine cable system is designed to expand international telecommunications connectivity across the Mediterranean region. The network aims to support growing demand for high-capacity infrastructure and data transmission between connected markets.

Submarine cable systems play an important role in international communications by carrying large volumes of data between countries and regions. Expanding this infrastructure can help strengthen connectivity, support digital services and meet the increasing capacity requirements of businesses, telecommunications operators and other organisations.

The completion of the shore-end installation in Benghazi represents progress in preparing the Libyan landing point for the wider cable system. As Medusa advances its Mediterranean network, the project contributes to efforts to improve regional digital infrastructure and connectivity between African and international markets.
