MTN Zambia has expanded its affordable smartphone portfolio with the launch of the Alola Max 2 and Alola 5G, as the telecommunications operator continues efforts to make advanced mobile technology more accessible across the country.
The new devices build on the Alola smartphone range, which has recorded more than 200,000 units sold since its launch in November 2024. MTN Zambia said the latest additions are designed to lower the cost barrier to smartphone ownership while offering customers improved performance and connectivity.
Priced at K1,150, the Alola Max 2 features increased storage, a 4,000mAh battery and Android 16. The device is positioned as an affordable option for customers seeking improved smartphone capabilities without moving into higher price categories.
The Alola 5G, priced at K2,280, offers support for 5G networks alongside enhanced performance, an HD+ display and AI-powered features. The device is aimed at giving customers access to more advanced connectivity and smartphone capabilities at an entry-level price.
MTN Zambia is also bundling connectivity benefits with both devices. Customers purchasing the Alola Max 2 will receive 7GB of data each month for three months, while Alola 5G buyers will receive 10GB monthly over the same period. Both packages include 100 MTN-to-MTN minutes every month for three months.
The operator said the launch forms part of its broader efforts to promote digital inclusion by reducing barriers to smartphone ownership and mobile connectivity. Through affordable devices and bundled services, MTN Zambia aims to enable more people to access digital services, information, communication tools and economic opportunities.
The Alola Max 2 and Alola 5G are now available at MTN Service Centres across Zambia.
