Spiro has appointed Auroasish Choudhuri as Managing Director for West and Central Africa, strengthening its leadership as the electric mobility company prepares for its next phase of expansion across the continent.
Choudhuri will report to Spiro Mobility CEO Kaushik Burman and oversee the company’s mobility business across West and Central Africa, including regional operations, mobility services and preparations for upcoming market launches.
The appointment follows Spiro’s $270 million funding round, providing additional capital to expand its electric motorcycle fleet and battery-swapping infrastructure. The company is building an integrated electric mobility ecosystem designed to make electric motorcycles more practical for commercial and everyday use through battery swapping.
Choudhuri brings more than 20 years of automotive experience across Africa, Asia, Central America and South America. Before joining Spiro, he served as CEO of DAG Industries, leading operations in Nigeria and Benin. He previously held senior roles at TVS Motor and Escorts Kubota, covering international sales, business development and market expansion.
Spiro currently has more than 130,000 electric motorcycles on the road and has completed more than 50 million battery swaps, according to the company. Its expansion strategy combines electric motorcycles with a growing battery-swapping network to address charging challenges and support commercial riders.
The company has also strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Huy Chieu as Chief Development Officer, bringing nearly three decades of experience in automotive engineering, electric vehicles, manufacturing, supply chains and operational scale-up.
With fresh funding, an expanding fleet and a growing battery-swapping network, Spiro is positioning West and Central Africa as important markets for its next stage of electric mobility growth.
