Zambia is strengthening collaboration between government and the private sector as it advances its digital transformation agenda.

Zambia National Commercial Bank (Zanaco) and Smart Zambia Institute held a strategic engagement on 10 August 2026 focused on strengthening cooperation around digital infrastructure, innovation and inclusive access to technology.

The Zanaco delegation was led by CEO Mukwandi Chibesakunda, while Zambia’s Government Chief Technical Officer, Kasali Musenge, represented Smart Zambia Institute alongside other officials and technology stakeholders.

According to Percy Chinyama, the engagement went beyond a courtesy meeting, with both sides aligning priorities and exploring practical pathways to accelerate Zambia’s digital agenda.

The discussions highlighted the role of public-private partnerships in developing digital infrastructure, improving government service delivery, supporting commerce and expanding access to technology.

Chinyama said partnerships with private-sector organisations such as Zanaco would be important in building the infrastructure required to support Zambia’s growing digital economy.

The engagement reflects Zambia’s broader effort to move from digital transformation strategies towards practical implementation, with stronger cooperation between government and businesses positioned as an important driver of digital development.
