Helios Towers has announced plans to invest $150 million in Senegal to expand the country’s telecommunications infrastructure, reinforcing ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and accelerate digital transformation.
The proposed investment was unveiled during a meeting between Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and Helios Towers Chief Executive Officer Tom Greenwood. As one of the world’s leading independent telecommunications tower companies, Helios Towers intends to deepen its presence in Senegal by supporting the expansion of critical network infrastructure.
According to the Senegalese Presidency, the investment will enable mobile network operators to extend coverage, improve network quality and create new opportunities for digital development. Enhanced telecommunications infrastructure is expected to strengthen access to digital services for individuals, businesses and public institutions while supporting the country’s growing digital economy.
The announcement aligns with Senegal’s broader vision of leveraging digital technology as a catalyst for economic transformation, innovation and social inclusion. Expanding tower infrastructure will help improve connectivity in underserved communities while creating an enabling environment for investment, entrepreneurship and technology adoption.
The planned investment also highlights increasing private sector confidence in Senegal’s telecommunications sector. As demand for reliable digital infrastructure continues to grow across Africa, investments such as this are expected to play an important role in supporting digital inclusion, expanding broadband access and strengthening the country’s position as an emerging digital economy.
