Norfund has appointed Naana Winful Fynn as Executive Vice President (EVP) for Financial Inclusion, strengthening its leadership team as the development finance institution continues to expand access to financial services across developing markets.

The appointment also sees Winful Fynn join Norfund’s management team, succeeding Erik Sandersen, who recently assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Winful Fynn has served as Regional Director for West Africa for the past nine years, overseeing investments across one of Norfund’s key markets while leading the institution’s Accra-based regional office. She has also been a member of Norfund’s credit committee for the last five years, contributing to strategic investment decisions across the organisation’s portfolio.

In her new role, she will lead Norfund’s financial inclusion investment portfolio, which focuses on strengthening access to affordable financial services through investments in banks, non-bank financial institutions, microfinance institutions and fintech companies. The institution aims to promote inclusive economic growth by expanding financial access for underserved individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO Erik Sandersen described Winful Fynn as an accomplished leader who has made significant contributions during her nine years at Norfund. Winful Fynn said she looks forward to advancing investments that strengthen financial systems and expand opportunities for communities that remain underserved by traditional financial services.
