Jerry Soko Appointed to Lead MTN Eswatini

MTN Group has announced the appointment of Jerry Soko as the new Chief Executive Officer of MTN Eswatini, effective 1 July 2026, marking another significant leadership milestone as the Group continues executing its Ambition 2030 strategy. The appointment forms part of a broader series of executive leadership changes introduced during the first half of the year, reflecting MTN’s commitment to strengthening its leadership bench, building internal talent, and positioning its operating companies for long-term growth. By appointing an experienced leader from within the MTN ecosystem, the Group continues to reinforce its strategy of developing leaders who understand its markets, customers, and long-term digital ambitions.

Jerry Soko brings more than two decades of leadership experience across Africa’s telecommunications and ICT sectors and has served as Acting CEO of MTN Eswatini for the past seven months. During this period, he successfully stabilized the business, restored operational momentum, strengthened stakeholder confidence, and repositioned the company for sustainable growth. His leadership has focused on improving business performance, enhancing operational discipline, and deepening customer engagement, achievements that contributed to the Board’s decision to confirm him as the substantive Chief Executive Officer.

Throughout his tenure, Jerry has championed a customer-centric approach while driving improvements in network resilience, service reliability, and operational excellence. He has prioritized strengthening MTN Eswatini’s network competitiveness, improving customer experience, enhancing financial discipline, optimizing cash management, and building strategic partnerships that support Eswatini’s broader digital transformation agenda. In addition, his focus on fostering a high-performance organizational culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, agility, and leadership development has helped strengthen the company’s internal capabilities and succession planning efforts.

Jerry also brings extensive leadership experience from across the MTN Group footprint, having previously held senior executive positions, including Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer roles, in Zambia, South Sudan, Botswana, and Rwanda. His regional experience, combined with his financial expertise and strategic leadership capabilities, positions him to lead MTN Eswatini through its next phase of growth as the telecommunications industry increasingly evolves beyond traditional connectivity toward integrated digital platforms, fintech services, and digital infrastructure solutions.
