Spiro, Africa’s leading electric vehicle and clean energy infrastructure platform, has secured a landmark $270 million funding round, strengthening its position as one of the continent’s most ambitious players in the e-mobility and energy transition space.

The latest boost includes a newly finalized $55 million investment from NewTrails Capital, a China-based growth-stage fund with a strategic presence across Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Nigeria, signaling deepening cross-border confidence in Africa’s clean mobility future.

The broader funding round draws participation from global institutional investors including Impact Fund Denmark, Equitane, FEDA, Nithio, and the Africa Go Green Fund, reflecting strong international alignment around scalable green infrastructure and sustainable transport solutions across emerging markets.

With more than 100,000 electric vehicles deployed and 2,500 smart-swap stations across seven active markets, Spiro has moved beyond the pilot stage and is now scaling a fully integrated ecosystem that combines vehicles, batteries, energy networks, payments, and servicing infrastructure.

The investment is expected to accelerate manufacturing and supply chain localization across Africa, while strengthening partnerships with Chinese suppliers, positioning Spiro to expand its pan-African footprint and deepen its role in driving the continent’s energy and mobility transformation.
