Uganda Airlines, Bluegrass Digital Partner for Online Overhaul

Uganda Airlines has partnered with Bluegrass Digital to completely redesign and rebuild its official website, (http://www.ugandaairlines.com), marking a major step in the national carrier’s digital transformation journey. The initiative goes beyond a simple refresh, representing a full-scale rebuild aimed at modernizing the airline’s online presence, streamlining the booking process, and delivering a faster, more intuitive experience for customers.

The project is structured around three core objectives — speed, self-service, and seamless booking. Uganda Airlines aims to position itself as a digitally driven, customer-centric airline, with a mobile-first design reflecting the reality that most users access services via smartphones. The new website will prioritize faster load times, simplified navigation, and accessibility standards compliance to ensure an inclusive user experience for all travelers.

Bluegrass Digital will develop the platform on Optimizely DXP, a scalable digital experience platform that integrates seamlessly with the airline’s core systems, including Amadeus RefX for flight booking and management, and Amadeus Instant Search for real-time pricing and availability. This integration allows customers to instantly find the best flight deals while enhancing self-service capabilities, enabling travelers to check in online, manage bookings, track flights, and submit refund requests independently.

A smarter search and navigation system will also be introduced, helping users quickly access critical information such as baggage policies, fare details, or local contact numbers. Matthew Edwards, Head of Product at Bluegrass Digital, emphasized that the redesign focuses on solving real customer friction points through intelligent geolocation and After Sales tools, giving travelers control, convenience, and a superior digital experience.

Currently in the design phase, the new website will reflect Uganda Airlines’ brand identity, showcasing the airline’s warm hospitality and vibrant Ugandan spirit through distinctive typography, colors, and cultural motifs. This partnership represents a significant milestone in aligning Uganda Airlines’ digital strategy with global aviation standards while demonstrating Bluegrass Digital’s expertise in delivering innovative, customer-first online experiences.
